Retro Sweethearts
Nadene Warren, owner of Honey and Co. Photography, requested a mid-century moment, and the Washington-based vendors she collaborated with delivered a show-stopping, retro styled shoot.
Golden hour was veering into blue hour when we pulled the pristine 1955 Chevy Bel Air around the front of the iconic Capitol City Barn. While this vehicle made waves in the 50s automotive world, our team of vendors were making magic happen with big energy Vegas vibes. The original factory colors of “Cashmere Blue” and “India Ivory” were our basis for achieving the bridal must of ‘something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.’ Florist Tara Dixon of Specialty Floral Design tied the color palette together with clusters of blue bella donna. The overall vision married nostalgic details like heart-eye shades, big hair, and mirror balls, with contemporary features like a crystal-encrusted gown, a post-party flatlay, and the groom’s steaming Cadillac (every gearhead’s dream).

Models – and real-life husband and wife duo – Chad and Alyssa, got to relive their wedding day with whispered sweet nothings in the front seat and kisses in the rearview mirror. Breanna Snelson, owner of Love Your Haiir Co., finished off the bridal look with an iconic bloom of hairspray (a 50s must), and a vogue pearled bow. As the sun set on the gorgeous grounds of Capitol City Barn, the couple celebrated with a champagne tower toast. It’s not a party if the champagne doesn’t soak your guests, or in this case, your vendors. Nadene used heavy flash photography to capture the glitz and glam of Alyssa’s gown, custom made by Weddings with Joy. The mirror ball accents and twinkling edison bulbs in the forefront and background seemed to transport everyone to the City of Lights. Gotti Sweets piped a decadent pink champagne lambeth cake in quintessential jukebox colors. The cake was generously filled with velvety real vanilla bean buttercream.
